I hauled myself back to the scene to find the Slayers knew this well. It took everything I had to hold on to a tree root and not plummet into the Sky Below. I threw myself sideways but the lightning bolt caught me in the shoulder and threw me to the edge of the island. Its glowing maw was the only other warning I had and it wasn’t enough. But while the Slayer team rained down blows on the beast I realized with growing dread that I’d caught its baleful eye. The Slayers were careful to avoid the bludgeoning swipes of its heavy tail, sometimes successfully. The Drask’s heavy hide deflected the Slayers’ initial attacks as talons the size of a man’s arm tore up the earth beneath its feet. Garvenne sent up a flare in response and battle was joined. Indeed, it seemed to welcome the challenge with a distinctive roar and a crackling aura of shock aether. The Behemoth was not hiding from the Slayers. “Maybe, maybe not,” she replied with a sardonic grin, “but I wouldn’t want to be the one to find out.” Lightning Strikes “Drasks can melt bones?” I asked in mild horror. “Just because a Drask is far away doesn’t mean it can’t melt your bones while you’re standing around watching.” “Keep your eyes open too and be ready to move, watcher,” she said. Their leader, Willa Garvenne, warned me to keep my distance from their quarry. Each shot will shunt it backwards slightly and it can turn its head to more precisely target a player. When it's enraged, the Drask will erupt a little bit, but the main difference is that it will occasionally fire off more than one electrical zap from its maw. The best place to be is the side of the belly, as you can easily see where attacks are coming from, allowing you to dodge with plenty of time. Naturally, getting hit by this is not ideal as you won't be able to heal, so run to the side of its jaws to avoid the shot. If it opens its mouth, it's about to fire off a beam of electricity at you. It only has a few attacks, including a tail swipe and shoulder barge, but these are all very easily telegraphed. Even the regular form is a lot less tough than some of the monsters faced before it.
